RAB Lighting Controls Make it Easy for Energy Savings in Honolulu

On the islands of Hawaii in which the average energy cost is .33 cents per kWh (double of that of the US mainland!) saving energy is a primary motivator for the state.

D. Suehiro Electric a local electrical contractor, located in Honolulu, HI, constructed their new 13,000 sq. ft. headquarters to include over 384 Lightcloud lighting control devices – the largest Lightcloud enabled facility on the island. This commercial facility which consists of offices, a warehouse, and a parking lot all have RAB LED lighting fixtures installed and integrated with Lightcloud wireless lighting controls. The combination of LED lighting and controllability facilitates significant energy savings for D. Suehiro’s business.

D. Suehiro’s previous facility was 4800 sq. ft. with a monthly electric bill of around $1,000. Their new facility, built with efficiency in mind, is more than three times the size with only a $1700 monthly energy bill.

Daryl Suehiro, President of D. Suehiro Electric, Inc., stated that he put considerable thought into their new headquarters and “wanted to be efficient with lighting demand and have complete building automation - we chose Lightcloud for that reason.”

Van Kumano, manufacturer’s sales rep from Illuminetix Inc. adds, “This industry has seen a massive revolution over the last decade with the advent of LED Lighting for general illumination. LED Lighting has taken over the industry and is the dominant light source for both residential & commercial spaces and brings with it controllability not seen before. That controllability factor along with the adaptation of the Internet of Things has led many to believe that we are headed towards a second revolution in our industry in the form of wireless lighting controls.”
